Traveling Europe: Italy’s Capri Island

If you are planning to travel abroad this summer or next, Capri Island is a place you may want to consider. It is both a beautiful and historic place. The landscape is breathtaking. There are gorgeous rocky cliffs that disappear into some of the bluest water anywhere in the world. In the mid 19^thcentury, the island became a favorite vacation spot for celebrities and elite.

There is no shortage of four and five star hotels on the island but if you are on a budget there is a wide selection of one and two star hotels as well as bed and breakfasts.  Sailing is one of the popular past times on the island. You can rent a boat or ride on one. They come in all sizes and speeds.

If wine tasting is more your speed you may want to check out Aurora Vino and Enoteca segrata. Both have walls of Italy’s most prestigious wines. Many couples also plan weddings and honeymoons at the island. It is considered one of the world’s most romantic spots.

The landscape is very mountainous with beautiful vegetation. Some of the most beautiful scenes on earth are everywhere you look. The famous Blue Grotto is one of the most gorgeous places on earth. First explored by the German painters Kopish and Fries, the Blue Grotto is now famous throughout the world thanks to its impressive dimensions and the spectacular blue hues produced by the light being filtered by the water.

Of course as with anywhere you visit you should be aware of tours that may not be worth the money and time. Check some of the comments.

When going to Italy, of course you want to visit Rome. You have to see the Sistine Chapel. Michelangelo’s ceiling painting is a must. And there is the Coliseum. To think of the barbaric things that went on there, it’s pretty humbling. The Vatican, the Leaning Tower, etc, all are a must visit.

But make a day trip to the Island of Capri when you visit Italy.
