Over the last few years, the average American worker has really taken it on the chin. Many Americans have found themselves either being downsized, forced to give away benefits and take pay cuts to keep their jobs.

It’s pretty simple to start a small business with eBay, but over the years the site has gotten very competitive, so you really have to discover a specific market that is not being tapped in order to really profit from an eBay business.

These are just some of the ways of starting an online business.  Americans can take their work experience and begin brand new careers simply by starting a blog, and offering their services through their blogs or websites. If you have experience in the field of daycare, you could start your own blog talking about the issues that some may face starting a local daycare center from your home. And through the innovation and hard work you put in, you could become an authority in your niche topic.

That can lead to people asking for consultations for their business, selling your own brand of digital products through your blog and more. All it takes is the time to put into your endeavor, and a lot of patience, because a successful career as a blogger does not happen overnight.

More and more Americans have also started their own businesses through the use of freelance service sites such as Elance.com, and Freelancer.com, where they are able to bid on projects pertaining to their specific job skills. From IT providers to copywriters, if you have a skill to offer, theses sites along with more that seem to arrive on the net daily, offer you the chance to run your own online business and be your own boss.
