Consider the beaches of Greece
If you are the beach going type, then Greece is the place for you. The Greek coast has approximately 1600km of coast line. These are some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The water is crystal clear on the Greek coast and most beaches are easily accessible.
Remote and breath-taking scenery
You want remote? Greece has some incredibly beautiful and remote locations. There are islands you must get to by airplane or ferry with gorgeous beaches undisturbed by development. You want infrastructure with your beach? Greece has that too. High quality services such as bars and restaurants, hotels, etc and also water skiing, para-sailing, reclining chair rentals, jet skis, inner tubes, etc are all available at several hot spots along the coast.
Kalymnos
You like scuba diving? Greece has some of the best scuba spots anywhere in the world. There are shipwrecks, caves and underwater volcanoes to explore in some of the clearest water anywhere. Kalymnos is world famous for sponge diving. Here you can be trained to learn scuba diving if you are a novice diver. You can get certified and even let your children learn to dive too.
Are land activities more your thing? How about golf, tennis, cycling, horseback riding or even bungee jumping? If you do happen to find yourself there in the winter there is also snow skiing. There are five international standard golf courses in Greece. There is Afandou Xenia Golf Course at Afantou Beach, Corfu Golf Course, Glyfada Golf Course, Hotel Porto Carras Golf Course at Sithonia, and Hersonisos Golf Course.
Biking across Greece
You can cycle almost everywhere in the countryside. Since the climate is favorable by providing sunshine on most days during the year, along with low humidity, you can easily cycle around Greece throughout most months. If mountain biking is more your style, there are special trails for this sport throughout the country. Even around Athens a cyclist can visit some interesting routes for mountain biking in Parnitha, Varibobi, Pentedli and Dionisos.
If you are a history buff, Greece is your kind of place. Greek Civilization can be traced back to 7000 BC. So you have 9000 years of history to look at here. It goes all the way back to the Bronze Age.
So Greece has something that all types of people can enjoy. Whether you are the active type or the more cerebral type, you can enjoy one of Europe’s greatest countries. It may not get the publicity of some of Europe’s other destinations, but Greece is a place you will want to visit while in Europe.
No European vacation is complete without visiting Greece.
