Enter This Year’s Warrior Dash And Find The Warrior Hidden Inside You

There are events that people enter that are held to raise funds for great
causes, or sometimes they’re held purely for the fun of it. In the case of
the Warrior Dash, it’s purely about fun. The dash actually began just two
short years ago, and is the brain child of a company called Red Frog Events,
and Red Frog is responsible for more than just the Warrior Dash.

What’s a Red Frog?

A “Red Frog” in this case is a company called Red Frog Events that calls
Chicago, IL its home. Founded by Joe Reynolds, Red Frog Events is all about
fun, and they are responsible for three different events including Warrior
Dash. The two other events are Beach Palooza and the Great Urban Race, and
Reynolds and his full time staff and interns travel across America to hold
these events. They put in long hours, but even the hard work is rewarded
with much play time and a ton of perks, which may explain the reason for Red
Frog’s continued success.

All about the dash

The fun of the Warrior Dash began back in 2009 in Joliet, IL. This first
event had 2000 participants and that event was sold out. In the past two
years the event has grown in popularity, as the news of just how much fun
people have had participating in the event has spread all over in print
reports, and on blogs and in forums. There are many wild and crazy things
that happen at these events, which include such daunting tasks as crawling
across tangled cargo nets, scaling massive wooden blockades, and an event
where you have to get across the slithering swamp.

Training for the event

The first thing that you have to realize is that this is not an event for
those of the faint of heart, so if you’re out of shape you better start
hitting the gym if you plan on competing in this grueling event. Here are a
few training tips that are listed on the Warrior Dash website:

• Day one: run as far as you can. Go home.
• Day two: do the same thing.
• Day three: Find the dirtiest pond in your neighborhood and snorkel in it -
in your slippers, without goggles.

You kind of get the feeling that you’re going to be doing some running and
quite possibly get a bit muddy participating in this event, so remember…you’ve
been warned.

The day of the dash

Since this is not your run of the mill event, there are a few things that
you should be aware of for the actual day of the dash. Expect to receive a
few freebies and also some things that you will be able to purchase. Some of
the free stuff includes beer, a Warrior Dash tee, a Fuzzy Warrior Helmet,
and a Warrior Dash race bib. Other things that you should know about the
event are that while this is not a team event, you and your friends are more
than welcome to race together, and if you want to wear a crazy costume then
go for it! As a matter of fact it’s encouraged, but it’s best to wear some
sort of a sneaker or running shoe so that you can easily attach the chip
timer.

Where is the next event?

The Warrior Dash is happening all over America and is more than likely
coming to a city near you. Some upcoming events include:

• New England
• Kansas City
• Virginia
• British Columbia
• New York

So if your idea of having a good time is trudging through the mud, getting
tangled in and climbing on cargo nets -- and drinking beer and eating good
food -- then the folks at Red Frog Events has an event just waiting to see
if there is a warrior deep inside of you.
