Can America Really Put its Faith in Pakistan?

You would have thought that this would have been something to cheer and celebrate, but apparently the leader of the organization known as Inter-Services Intelligence seems to have other ideas about all of this.

Apparently the director of the ISI thinks that he has lost face because of the simple fact that one “on the run terrorist” named Osama Bin Laden was actually hiding out in Pakistan…unbeknownst to him. The truth in this case is that director Lieut. Gen. Ahmed Shuja Pasha, didn’t lose face, he’s just got a bit of egg all over it.

In the days leading up to the discovery and subsequent death of Bin Laden at the hands of US military forces there in Pakistan, it was revealed that the LT. General was less than happy with the outcome of the military operation that seems to have involved everyone but his own organization.
 
ISI director makes threats toward the US

So what do you do when you have a wanted terrorist hiding right in your own backyard so to speak? Apparently you make threats against the people who were able to accomplish what you weren’t able to. Before we go any further, you have to wonder how someone, whose face has to be universally recognized in every nation and country around the globe, could have hidden for what may have been several weeks, at least undetected. Is there the possibility that just maybe the ISI’s director may have been aware of Bin Laden’s presence in a garrison that was located just two hours away from the capital of Pakistan and was actually turning a blind eye to the fact?

In a recent statement to reporters, Shuja Pasha had mentioned that there would be co-operation between both countries as long as there was a mutual interest that would benefit both countries, but if there were no benefit to Pakistan, than Shuja Pasha was quoted as saying this “We'll not help you,” and “We'll resist you." Now I know that these comments are taken out of context for this piece, but I think the message here is clear. 
 
Time for a roundup

Now after being embarrassed by his organization’s own ineptness, the Lieut. Gen. has decided to round up all of the five Pakistani informants who helped the CIA with information that was critical to Bin Laden’s capture.  And take note that one of those informants was an Army major!

Apparently Pakistani Major Amir Aziz, as of last Thursday was the only one of the five that had been taken into custody that at that time was still being held for questioning. Major Aziz’s home in Abbottabad had been used to help gather intelligence against Bin Laden, right under the eyes of the ISI. In the meantime, the rest of the “suspected informants” had been released.

Standing against the US and the CIA

Pasha has been quite upset with what he has interpreted as an expansion of the CIA in his country, while undermining the efforts of his ISI command, and in the process making the organization and his leadership look like novices. So as a war of words has begun between the two spy agencies there are more facts that have found the light of day -- much to the chagrin of Pakistan and the ISA.

Double agents in their own land

There were reports surfacing that the ISI may actually have given information to Pakistani militants who were stationed in Waziristan, near secret bomb factories. Apparently there were satellite photos which back up a claim that after the US supplied information to the ISI leader about the location of the militants to the Pakistani military, 24 hours later when the Pakistanis went to raid the area, the militants had already fled.

A matter of trust

Here is my problem with this whole scenario. First of all, our military forces and CIA are invaders in a foreign country.  The Pakistanis want us there about as much as we were wanted in Iraq, regardless of the outcome. We were foreigners there, and we are foreigners here.

And how could we trust a country that has been known to hide terrorists in the past? How do we know what is transpiring behind the scenes in Pakistan anyway? Isn’t it possible that there could be deals behind closed doors with America’s enemies?

How about Pakistan and Libya? What, you don’t think that both of these countries couldn’t share the same agenda when it comes to the United States? And how about a country such as North Korea? I don’t know about you, but just the very notion that these two countries could share a common goal of bringing America to her knees with the threat of nuclear weapons is very alarming to me.

Let’s not kid ourselves! Of course America can’t trust Pakistan. They want us out of there, and I say the sooner the better, never mind the idea of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer…I say keep your friends close, your trusted allies such as great Britain closer and just destroy any country that harbors terrorists, and feigns stupidity.
