The average American eats two hundred and twenty pounds of meat per person annually. That is a 30% increase since the 1950s. The price of meat has only risen dramatically since that time, averaging $2.50 and more as other prices of production rise. That’s about $550 per person per year; a family of four would spend $2,200.
